Ingredients for creme brulee French toast
- 6 thick slices of French bread
- 5 eggs
- 355ml full cream
- 220g brown sugar
- 115g unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon brandy-based orange liqueur
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions for making creme brulee French toast
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat
- Mix in the brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until the sugar is dissolved
- Pour into a baking dish
- Remove the crusts from the bread
- Arrange the bread in the baking dish
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla extract, orange brandy, and salt
- Pour over the bread
- Cover and chill overnight
- Preheat the oven to 175C
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator and bring to room temperature
- Bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven
