Recipe: Deviled eggs

Deviled eggs are perfect for nibbles at a party, or to pack into your cool box and enjoy to a picnic. This classic recipe will allow you to great tasty deviled eggs in less than 20 minutes.

Deviled eggs - makes 12 egg halves

Ingredients for deviled eggs

  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 60ml mayonnaise
  • 60ml mustard
  • paprika, for garnish
  • salt to taste

Instructions for making deviled eggs

  1. Place the eggs in a pot of cold water and bring to boil on medium heat
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and leave the eggs to stand in the hot water for 10 minutes
  3. Remove from the hot water, allow to cool and then peel from shells
  4. Cut the eggs in half
  5. Remove the yolks and place in a bowl
  6. Mash the yolk together with the celery, onion, mayonnaise, mustard and salt
  7. Stuff the yolk mixture into the egg whites
  8. Sprinkle with paprika
  9. Chill until you are ready to serve them
