There are few things nicer on a cold winter's day than a creamy cup of hot chocolate. Even better, you can make your own creamy version from scratch in less than 15 minutes.
Hot chocolate - serves 4
Ingredients for hot chocolate
- 1 litre milk
- 150g plain chocolate, chopped into small squares
- 1 vanilla pod, split with seeds removed and kept
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Sugar to taste
- Grated nutmeg, for dusting
Method for making hot chocolate
- Heat the vanilla pod and seeds, cinnamon stick and milk in a saucepan until boiling
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the chocolate pieces, stirring until the chocolate melts
- Whisk the hot chocolate vigorously until frothy on top and add sugar, to taste
- Serve with a dusting of nutmeg
