Meatloaf has long been a favourite on the other side of the Atlantic. It's easy to prepare and ready in slightly over an hour, making it a perfect weekday dinner for those chilly evenings.
Recipe for meatloaf - serves 8
Ingredients for meatloaf
- 455g ground beef
- 455g ground pork
- 225g shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 180ml water
- 160g dry bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 30g dry onion soup mix
- ground black pepper to taste
Instructions for making meatloaf
- Preheat the oven to 175C
- Combine the beef, pork, soup mix, eggs, bread crumbs, pepper and water in a large bowl
- Stir in about a quarter of the cheese and mix well
- Spread half the mixture into a loaf pan
- Spread the remaining cheese over the top
- Top with the remaining half of the meatloaf mixture
- Bake for 60 minutes
- Let the loaf cool for 10 minutes before serving
